Good commentary, especially the reference to Christchurch. Tarrant, as an Australian, was clearly ignorant about why such rifles were available for sale (to him and others) lawfully was due in the main to the political organisation of New Zealand voters to thwart past gun control efforts. Tarrant’s actions undermined that political effort and worse, also provided the circumstance to institute a global private platform/government regulator political surveillance network (the Christchurch Call).
He even believed that his actions would cause guns to be banned in the United States, which he believed would cause a civil war, which he believed the right would win because they have more guns. He believed the same moronic arguments you hear from these people who talk about armed uprisings or civil wars. It's all born out of a delusional and lazy belief that there will be one event one day which solves all the problems overnight.
Very well reasoned and articulated argument, as always. I actually agree with you that gun ownership won't somehow stop tyranny's encroachment in America and Canada. The reason why I think that is very simple: we've had gun ownership for centuries and it hasn't stopped the encroachment. I judge a tree by its fruit.
One thing I'd like to add and ask you to consider, another argument against gun control is the sheer evil and malevolence of the state. They're an utterly immoral, vile group of people. The last thing I want to do is cede any more authority to such a wicked group, at least any more than I absolutely have to.
Very good observation regarding the state of free speech in the US and how the system succeeds in shutting down opposing narratives without putting itself in the crosshairs as some sort of tyrannical oppressor. Indeed, why risking public backlash over cracking down on some dissidents, if the loyal foot soldiers from various civil rights organizations, law groups, NGOs, and even general populace are gladly doing your bidding without your direct involvement?
I know how malignant and insidious this whole arrangement is, and I cannot help but marvel at its efficiency. And notice how the left achieved all of this in the west without firing a single shot or engaging in any kind of hardcore physical struggle. It's all been done through careful and meticulous narrative creation, gradual takeover of institutions, and generational accumulation of intellect and capital.
If we on the right are indeed planning to take our countries back and see our people prosper again, we need to adopt the same principles of hard work, discipline and dedication and be prepared for our labors to bear fruit long after we are gone. The hope in some magical collapse event that would magically turn the tide in our favor is very lazy, harmful and just dumb.
The Second Amendment, Bill of Rights and American Constitution has always been about the balancing of power. No one leaver of power should control the other. These statutes were written by sober, experienced men for a nation of sober, experience, mature men.....go spend 2 hrs on TickTok and tell me that these are the people the founding Fathers had in mind?? Would they done the same same today looking at the infantile mess out there? I am actually pro-gun ownership but it is like all the grown ups have left the room and we are stuck with a fruitloon babysitter in charge

I mentioned that in the section on why I oppose gun control is that the powers that be want to make it more difficult for people to defend themselves.
I have a feeling that this is going to start a CIVIL WAR.
Next week. Get ready.
