Excellent writing Thankyou. Have also never used a food delivery app in my life and never will. Please could someone explain the point of food delivery apps to me? When you live in a city? When you have restaurants / take aways within easy walking distance?
If you don't want to cook just have some rice or pasta to hand along with some ready made sauces. How difficult can it be?
Managing a kitchen having meals in the freezer / provisions ready for the occasions you don't have time / don't want to cook is basic adult competence i.e independent living.
Good article. A couple of things you mentioned that are very common in this type of article. Firstly saying technology is neutral, neither good or bad, it's how you use it. Technology is negative in terms of environmental destruction, the smartphone is a good example using huge amounts of energy to produce and various rare earth metals plus the battery. People constantly upgrade phones, cars etc so it's an ongoing negative process. The other thing is the old trope, "I'm not a Luddite...". Most people understand very little about the Luddite rebellion in the North of England, it wasn't really about technology per sae. The weavers were literally starving to death, they fought back against the mill owners because they were going to die so had nothing to loose. Eventually conditions improved slightly as a result of the rebellion although many were killed or send to Australia.
It may seem a trivial point but people like us fought the system for their lives, they should be respected. The word Luddite shouldn't be used as a universal insult for anyone pushing back against the incessant march of technological progress. No offence.
I however i'm a little bit more reserved about the source being "lazyness".
When it comes to bodybuilding for example, a discipline of the body where many and literal Übersmench ideals are being representated, the human body is actually not prepared for being that muscular, even worse if you take steroids. My point is that is almost anti-natural to obtain this, which could explain better the masses rejection than simple "lazyness".
The main reason is actually the lack of real purporse. Our bodies only waste energy/calories for survival purposes. When i'm sad or not being life-affirming, even i walk to get my groceries or have some fun with a woman, which means that to waste energy a real purpose is required. And nothing is more real that being hungry or horny. In a materialistic sense, it makes no sense to force oneself to kill animals instead of buying groceries. The body won't generate muscle if you don't need muscles to live. The Gym is an anti-natural, scientific and a laboratory for concentrated muscle stimulation, it's the modern expression of the obssesion with our bodies and image, but also the primitive and brave desire to overcome ourselves and even compete with others.
In this sense for me, if you are not "hungry" in a spiritual sense, you wont get out of bed, think about it, there are no real fights in this life more than make some money to buy groceries, and then make more money to buy stupid stuff. Most people are lazy yes, but if you dont give them some purporse besides "living for living itself" its no surprise they become rats.
People nowdays realize this when they turn 25-30 after partying too much and realizing that consoomer life leads nowhere. The struggle if to invent real struggles, to overcome something that requires an Übersmench, if not, these type of man won't exist because is not necesary in nature terms.
Also when you talk about Tinder or whathever, it's stupid to expect men approach women in real life when things dont work that way anymore. Try for example approach a girl that actually likes you and then tell her you dont have social media, see what happens next.
The Übersmench should get his way in modernity by modernity means if necesary. If he is truthful in his efforts to pursue truth and glory, it won't matter if he uses Tinder or Uber, that should be a tool for the material needs, a means to an end.
I'm no Luddite, I listen to music from a hard drive in another room or a podcast, as I cook. I prepare sauces for a few days, which are stored in the fridge & prepare rice, pasta, etc on a daily basis. I cycle past my car in the driveway to go get my groceries, I grow food in my small back garden, mostly in pots.
Passive consumption is a choice, the reason it's chosen is the nub of the matter & that seems to me to be almost spiritual.
I must ponder this. Then I will write something about it. If it turns out well, I will publish it online.
Thanks for the inspiration, merely sneering at the fatties has no utility.
Uber has proven to be a civilizational syphilis.

Uber is a thing that must be overcome.

Simple but great point. Great essay.
